WINES AVAILABLE

CYPRESS WHITE……………………………………………………….$12.95
The pairing of our chardonnay and viognier grapes presents a perfect summer wine. A light wine with aromas of apricots, peaches, mellons with a hint of coconut. Pairs well with chicken, shell fish, salads and white sauces, or even with desert! A clean, crisp and refreshing finish. Perfect sipping on a hot, summer day.

ALSATIA ………………………………………………………………………$15.50

This wine is a cuve of Pinot Gris and Auxerrois grapes, both of which are grown in Alsace, hence the name.  They are grown, harvested, crushed, pressed and fermented together.  It marries the musky pear taste of Pinot Gris with the tropical fruit of Auxerrois.   Presented in our typical style:  crisp, clean and slightly off-dry.  It’s made of entirely our own grapes.

BACCHUS………………………………………………………………………$16.50

This wine has been very popular partly due to its ability to improve greatly in the bottle.  It is a grape that was developed in Geisenheim, Germany as one of the many attempts to create the perfect Riesling/Sylvaner cross.  The exuberant, fruit and mineral flavours make this a wine that can be enjoyed sipping it by itself, or as a perfect accompaniment to seafood and poultry.

MUSQUE D’ORVAL……………………………………………………………..$16.50

A dry Muscat is an uncommon wine.  Most are presented as sweet dessert or aperitif wine but ours is similar in style to the Muscats of southern France– dry and very fruity.  It is made entirely of grapes grown in the Alberni Valley.

CHARDONNAY …………………………………………………………….$14.95

A light wine with aromas of apricots,  peaches, melons with a hint of coconut. Pairs well with chicken, shell fish, salads and white sauces, or even with desert! A clean, crisp and refreshing finish. Perfect sipping on a hot, summer day.

GEWURZTRAMINER ……………………………………………..$14.95

Our Gewurztraminer has been made from our own Alberni Valley grapes since 2010 and has sold out every year.  This is partly because the vine is a shy bearer of fruit, the bunches being significantly smaller than other white varieties so that growers are not anxious to plant it.  Ours has the typical lychee flavour while being soft and smooth in the mouth.  Since it does sell out every year, it is advisable to order it early in the season after bottling (bottling is typically in March/April).  This fresh, fruity, complex and balanced wine which will enhance any  Thai dish and pairs well with spicy foods and sauces.

PINOT GRIS ………………………………………………………………….$14.95

It is with great pride that we offer our own Pinot Gris for sale in 2013.  It is light but has tons of varietal character–musky pear/peach and is a stand-out with any type of seafood.

MERLOT…………………………………………………………………………$16.00

Made from grapes grown in the sunny Okanagan, this wine has seen no oak! Full bodied, rich and very fruit forward. Aromas of raisins, prunes and cherries. You’ll want to put this one away in the cellar for years to come. Perfect with baked salmon, lamb, prime rib or  more marbled meats, and rich red sauces.

CABERNET SAUVIGNON……………………………………………….$16.50

One year on oak gives this a unique flavour with aromas of black cherry and spices. A young wine ready for your cellar or tonight with a steak!  Made entirely from grapes sourced from the south Okanagan.

WRANGEL RED………………………………………………………………$9.95

A very light red, almost a blush wine from Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes grown on Vancouver Island with a small amount of white (15%) from the Okanagan.  Tending to the taste of berries rather than stone fruit or fruit cake, it is surprisingly complex for such a light wine and we find it a refreshing change from heavier reds.  The name Wrangel is a reference to the geologist who gave his name to the rock that is Vancouver Island and is not a reference to hard-working cow-folk.

ALBERNOIS…………………………………………………………………….$11.95

This is a light to medium-bodied red from grapes grown in the Alberni Valley.  It is a blend of Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Zwiegeltrebe, Helfensteiner, Blaufrankisch, Baco and St.Laurent grapes.  It holds some promise of maturing in the cellar.  It still possesses a definite Island quality but has a deeper smokey flavour than other Island reds.
